Made:

maker:
Clement, Joseph

A notebook which appears to have belonged to Joseph Clement. It contains passages of a religious nature, including many from Hugh Blair's 'Sermons', as well as many giving advice to youth. These have been copied into the book by hand. It appear that it was written as an exercise either whilst attending the village school in Great Asby or possible after he left as a form of self improvement. The book is divided in to two section the first being dated 1793, when Clement was around 14, and the second 1798, when he was 19 and working as a thatcher.
