Junghans Mega 1, digital quartz wristwatch synchronised by the radio time signal transmitted from Frankfurt, 1990 with original packing carton containing pyramidal plastic and paper covers for plastic display stand, by Junghans Uhren GmbH, Germany, 1991
This digital quartz watch is synchronised by the long-wave radio time signal transmitted from Frankfurt, Germany, which originates from the atomic clocks at the German National Standards Laboratory in Braunschweig. The Mega 1 was the world's first radio-controlled wristwatch. The radio antenna is in the watch strap, and the watch can receive the time signal across most of Europe. It can be adjusted for various time zones and it functions as a normal quartz watch when it cannot receive a signal. The case was designed by Frog Design Inc.
