Tablet sun-dial, gilt metal, string gnomon, 3 3/8 x 2 3/8-inches, Germany, 1597. For use at latitude 50°. Engraved on base with circular tables of Julian and Gregorian epacts 1597-1615, and lunar circle. Bead threaded onto gnomon allows determination of planetary or Jewish hours (see note).
