Balance, designed by Artingstall, made by Oertling, of "new" construction, with steel ribbon suspension instead of conventional knives and planes, in glazed mahogany case, made 1876, no serial number. Brass beam supported on a brass pillar.

This rare balance was unusual in its attempt to dispense with the knifesedge system of suspension.
