Contact goniometer, Carangeot type, in brass, c. 1830
Carangeot type contact goniometer, c.1830. A goniometer is an instrument for measuring angles, and was particularly applied in the field of crystallography. Arnould Carangeot (1742-1806) invented the first goniometer in about 1780.
