Large format mechanical magic lantern slide used at Royal Polytechnic Institution, Regent Street, London,. showing warships at sea, mid 19th century. Large format panoramic seascape with mechanical rackwork frame. Handle moves glass part horizontally, so that image moves over seascape. Rackwork mechanism is intact and working.
