Early kinematographic apparatus, one small animatograph camera, including film counter, by R. W. Paul

In March 1896 Paul used the Animatograph to give a private evening show to the management of the Alhambra Theatre London. Throughout 1896 films were shown on the Animatograph in theatres in Russia, Canada, Spain and Portugal.
