Cast iron notice, Great Western Railway

Cast iron notice, Great Western Railway, relating to safety and propping doors open, signed Ames C Inclis General Manager, white letters on black background.

There were lots of hazards associated with working on the railways. In this notice the Great Western Railway Company reminds its employees not to create yet more.

It reads:

"Warning is given against the dangerous practice of propping up the doors of merchandise trucks for the support of Coal Weighing Machines, for loading or unloading traffic, or for any other purpose. The Great Western Railway Company give notice that such practice is prohibeted, and any person disregarding this caution will be held responsible for injury or damage that may result. Ames C Inclis, General Manager"
