Model of 4-6-0 locomotive and tender for Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway; (scale 1:8)

This represents one of four standard 4-6-0 outside cylinder passenger locomotives of 5.5ft. gauge built by Kitson & Co in 1912. The model was made by workmen in the railway workshops at Perambur between 1920 and 1922.

The front end of the engine is supported on a bogie having wheels 43 inches in diameter, with a wheelbase of 7ft. A cow-catcher is fitted. The weight of the engine in working order is 67.3 tons, and it was capable of carrying 4000 gallons of water and 7.5 tons of coal.
