Trophy, the John Edward Nicholls Memorial Shield, for annual competition between ambulance teams connected with the Railway Service, embossed silver plated plaque, central vignette of the Good Samaritan flanked by female allegories of Victory, below enamelled paintings of the Railway Convalescent Homes at Herne Bay, Kent (founded 1901) and Leasowe Castle, Cheshire (founded 1911) on oak panel. Trophy inaugurated 1919, by Fattorini and Sons, Bradford.
