Painting, oil on canvas, Building an Engine at Crewe Works, by Norman Wilkinson R I, about 1930. Depicts the interior of the Erecting Shop at the London, MIdland & Scottish Railway's Crewe Works with lines of steam locomotives under construction. Components lie on the floor next to the engines, and in the foreground a blacksmith is heating a part in the brazier. Original artwork for London, Midland & Scottish Railway poster, published as number 84 in "The Best Way" series. Signed by the artist at bottom right. Framed, unglazed.
