The places featured are Scott's home at Abbotsford, the site of his tomb in Dryburgh Abbey, Melrose Abbey and Scott's Monument in Edinburgh. Accompanying text reads "Dining cars, sleeping cars and lavatory carriages". The illustration of Melrose Abbey is accompanied by a quote from Scott's Lay of the Last Minstrel, "If thou would'st view fair Melrose aright, Go visit it by the pale moonlight". Text below reads "Direct and picturesque route between England and Scotland is via the Midland Railway Waverley Route". In the bottom margin are the words "Edinburgh, W. & A. K. Johnston Ld., Edinburgh, Glasgow & London. W. F. Jackson, General Manager". An ink stamp in the bottom margin reads "Ministere des Chemins de Fer, Postes & Telegraphes, Administration des chemins de fer de l'etat, Bon a afficher, 31 Juil 07", and in the right margin are three Belgian ink stamps.
