Poster, London & North Eastern Railway, The Road of the Roman, The Roman Wall by W P Wollen, about 1925. Coloured lithograph depicting a reconstruction of Hadrian's Wall, in about the second century AD. It depicts Roman auxiliary cavalrymen on horseback on a paved road, with the wall in the background, and a woman carrying a bucket in the foreground. Accompanying text reads "Tour by rail or road from Newcastle-on-Tyne" and also gives details of an illustrated guide. Printed by Vincent Brooks, Day & Son Ltd, Lith, London WC2. Format: double royal.
