Benz single cylinder 3 hp motor car, 1900, with accessories. This car was built by Benz & Co of Mannheim in 1900, and is of a type of which over 4000 were made between 1895 and 1900. The mechanism consists of a single cylinder horizontal motor, with a transverse shaft, placed over the rear axle; this drives, by pulleys and belts, a counter-shaft which is connected with the driving wheels by chains.
