Drawing, pencil and watercolour on paper, Behind the Scenes, Derby St Mary's Goods Depot by Joseph Pike, 1951. Depicts a busy scene inside the depot, as railway workers unload trains of goods vans and transfer freight between them. Boxes, barrels and pipes are piled on the platform, while light cranes assist with unloading. Goods are moved on conveyor belts and by small articulated vehicles. Overhead are runways with hoists for heavy goods. Original poster artwork for British Railways (London Midland Region) poster. Framed, unglazed. Signed and dated lower left.
