Watercolour design sketch, with paint samples, featuring the proposed livery for 2700HP Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive D1000 series, about 1960 - 1961. Side and end views of Western Class locomotive No D1000 'Cheddar Gorge' in turquoise livery. Designed by John Meacher of the Design Research Unit, 37 Duke Street, London, W1 for the Western Class 52 diesel-hydraulic locomotives built at Swindon. Reference 1291/3 (Turquoise). This livery was not adopted by British Railways (Western Region) and D1000 was eventually named 'Western Enterprise' when it entered service in December 1961.
