Portable electric carborandum wheel grinder type 5.P. No. 5634, 200 volts

This is a small portable grinding machine in which the emery wheels are mounted directly on the shaft of an electric motor. It was used for cleaning castings among other things using 5 inch diameter wheels.

The motor is completely enclosed in a casing to which two controlling handles are fitted. The emery wheels, which are fitted on to the projecting end of the shaft, are covered by a hood. The cable is attached to the main handle, and a switch (normally held off by a spring) is fitted close to it.
