Painting of grain drying and storage

Made:
1951 in Earl's Court

Mural painting, showing grain drying and storage, by Miss Eleanor Esmonde-White. Size 14' x 5'6".

With the increasing use of combined harvester-thrashers the grain may be collected in too wet a state for successful storage and may be fed into grain dryers, often oil-fired, in which the surplus moisture is removed. The loading and delivery ends of large dryers are shown in this painting, and in the background there is a grain silo in which the dried grain may be kept.

There are many types of drying plant of which some are relatively simple and inexpensive for the smaller farmer.
