Elphor Vap 5 high voltage

Made:
1975-1980

Elphor Vap 5 high voltage (1000V) free-flow electrophoresis apparatus. This apparatus has a variety of applications in the separation of a range of cellular and molecular substances (e.g. machines like this have been used in the original separation of T and B lymphocytes and the separation of malarial parasites from red blood cells). This particular machine is thought to be the last intact one in the world and has been used from 1981-1997 for the separation of organelles from platelets at the Thrombosis Research Institute by Dr Kalwant S Authi.
