Volksempfanger radio

Made:
1933-1945 in Germany

Mass produced Volksempfanger radio, type VE 301 W, made in Germany between 1933 and 1945 by Sachsenwerk Niedersedlitz.

By 1930, the crystal sets to which most early enthusiasts listened had mainly been superseded by valve sets with speakers, amplification and greater fidelity. Radio acted as a powerful source of entertainment, instruction and even indoctrination. These ‘Volksempflanger’ sets were made in Nazi Germany so that people could listen to Hitler’s speeches.
