Reverse legend, Royal Society for the Protection of Life from Fire, 1843, crown and laurel wreath, exergue legend engraved [by hand] Specimen A.M. Perkins Esq. (Member of Committee) 1851. Possibly awarded to Perkins [Baker Perkins Co] for recommendations regarding installation of permanent chemical systems in buildings to prevent fire, forerunner of automatic 'sprinkler' system
