Table, pine top with mahogany trim, turned stained pine legs, formerly the property of George Robert Stephenson (1819-1905) and reputedly used by George and Robert Stephenson.

From this table, George Stephenson and his son Robert changed our railways and the world forever. George designed and built the world's first inter-city railway from Liverpool to Manchester. Thanks to his engineering feats, he is often called 'the Father of the Railway'.
