Reflecting compass by F. Wiggins

This unusual compass is meant to be viewed by reflection in an inclined mirror in the base of the binnacle.

The magnetic system consists of 8 strip shaped magnets which are attached below a large translucent annular mica compass card. This card is supported on a steel pivot on a pendulous weight which is mounted in gimbals.
