Micrometer made by Henry Maudslay about 1805.

Maudslay kept a bench micrometer, nicknamed 'The Lord Chancellor’ as it was considered the ultimate 'court of appeal’ for work in his shops. This small example may be a model built to help plan the construction of a larger machine, or a small example that was never completed.
