Painting, [Pomona Docks, Manchester Ship Canal] / by Claude T. Stanfield Moore, 1894. Oil on canvas; 76.2x111.7cm in gilt frame, 96x131x7.5[10]cm. Signed and dated brc. Shows Pomona Docks in the Manchester Ship Canal, view from Old Trafford across to Salford. In foreground, warehouse of the Fisher & Renwick Company on the Bridgewater Canal, with the chimney of the chemical dye works to the left. An ocean-going vessel is in dock, contrasting with the horsedrawn canal barge. The Manchester Ship Canal opened on 1st January 1894.
