Characters from left to right are John Taylor (1703-1772), oculist; Mrs. Sarah Mapp (1706-1737), bone-setter; Joshua Ward (1684/5-1761), medical practitioner and inventor of medicines; quacks sniff their pomander canes, one holding a glass urinal whilst two thers inspect it with their glass eyes.
