Human skin, tattooed with inscription, French, 1850-1900. Tattoo - the design is completely obscured by a yellow-white residue, possibly chemical. On holding the sample up to light the inscribed word 'HENRI' becomes visible in bold black letters, with another unrecognisable symbol beneath. Skin - leathery appearance, small square shape, yellow-white coloouration with dark brown edges.
