Construction of the Severn Bridge
23 black & white prints of the construction of the Severn Bridge. The bridge was built between 1875 and 1879, and some of the photographs are clearly dated 8 May 1877. The prints were made by the British Railways (Western Region) Chief Civil Engineer's Office Photographic Section from original negatives in extremely poor condition. The photographs are accompanied by a memorandum from the Gloucester Civil Engineering District describing the bridge.
