Tinder-pistol (length 11 ins) of iron, with carved wooden butt, heavily brass-mounted; large size; butt hinged to body and held closed by a spring-catch which, when pressed, allows it to be bent downwards, disclosing receptacle for tinder, etc., in the body; inscribed on top of body "I. Peter a Potsdam"; probably 18th century. Germany.
