Poster, relating to health eating and exercise

Poster, relating to healthy eating and exercise, featuring two images of an overweight woman walking past a group of people in a swimming pool, with the message 'Do you hold your breath when a man looks at you?', produced by the Health Education Council, London, England, 1979.

The Health Education Council wanted the public to take responsibility for their health by encouraging sensible eating. A link was made between good health and sexual attraction. An overweight woman walks past a man climbing out of a swimming pool, with the message: 'Do you hold your breath when a man looks at you?'

Being overweight can lead to diseases such as diabetes and heart disease as well as mobility problems. The poster suggests replacing high calorie food with healthier alternatives such as wholemeal bread, fresh fruit and vegetables.
