Two Transport DNA swab collection kits used to collect spit, consisting of Latex gloves, tamper evident storage bag and sterile collection swabs. Issued by First Glasgow to bus drivers to tackle staff assaults through DNA analysis, made by Tetra Scene of Crime Ltd, c.2006.

Tetra Scene of Crime Limited produced these DNA collection kits. They were issued by transport company First Glasgow to their bus drivers. It was an attempt to tackle staff assaults. In 2004, vandalism accounted for 8,000 broken windows among First Glasgow’s 1000-strong fleet. This averages 23 broken windows per night. Physical assaults and threatening behaviour saw First Glasgow team up with Strathclyde police to curb growing crime through DNA analysis. The kits contain Latex gloves, a tamper evident storage bag and two sterile collection swabs. The saliva swabs could only be used if the sample was taken from the skin of the victim. If the saliva landed on clothing, the article was given to Strathclyde police for analysis.
