Made:
1824-1844 in England
maker:
Unknown

Dark green glass sun filter in brass slider mount for use at the eyepiece of a telescope, unsigned, English, 1824-1831. Inscription indicates that the glass was blistered whilst observing the sun with a five feet telescope at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, England. It is likely that it was originally in the possession of Smyth due to his association with the United Services Institution.
