A photograph entitled 'Profumo Affair: Sir Keith Joseph leaves Cabinet Meeting at Admiralty House', taken in June 1963 by D Eatwell for the Daily Herald.
The Profumo Affair was a British political scandal in 1963. John Profumo (1915-2006), at the time Secretary of State for War, was accused of having an affair with model and showgirl Christine Keeler (b. 1942), reputedly the mistress of the Soviet Naval attaché. Profumo later lied about the affair in the House of Commons, leading to his forced resignation. Sir Keith Joseph (1918-1994) was the Minister of State for Housing and Local Government in 1963.
