Best known for his painting 'Ophelia', Millais founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in 1848 with his friends William Holman Hunt (1827-1910) and Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882).
Millais entered the Royal Academy Schools at age 11, the youngest ever pupil, and exhibited there from age 17. He thrived at the Royal Academy, becoming President in 1876.
