This OnMail set top box is complete in its factory packaging, consisting of the box, a brand new full keyboard remote control, the receiver unit, power supply, manual and leaflets introducing OnMail to OnDigital’s customers. Only a small fraction used the service.
Launched on 7 March 2000, OnMail was a short-lived TV-based email service run by OnDigital via their set-top boxes. It required a special remote control which had a slide-out keyboard. The service ended on 22 May 2002 following the collapse of ITVDigital. The system was limited by the fact that it would only access other OnMail accounts which had the address @onmail.co.uk. It also didn’t allow access to attachments.
