Locomotive plaque, cast aluminium, commemorative plaque associated with Captain Bill Smith RNR nameplate, ‘In 1959 Capt Smith bought Great Northern Railway No. 1247 the first locomotive to be privately purchased from B.R., and has since donated it to the National Railway Museum. Bill has played a significant part in the international field of railway preservation and in 1982 was made the first honorary life member of the Friends of the National Railway Museum’, duplicate plaque as fitted to British Railways Class 33 No. 33109, named July 1993, removed October 1996, 585mm x 209mm x 11mm.
