Two large gas cylinders used b
- c. 1845
Two large gas cylinders used by James Joule, c.1845 for experiments on the condensation and rarefaction of air.
One seal into the cylinder is wider and may be made of lead. Other seal disc is probably leather. The screw-thread into the cylinder is solid with a slit cut across and a counter-sunk hole drilled part way through - may be a later change.
