German narrative folk vase. The seventeenth century in Europe saw unparalleled changes in the decoration of glass The strength of European glass-making moved northward from Venice to Germany and Bohemia. In England George Ravenscroft developed lead crystal which made a major contribution to chandaliers which brought a new sense of light to dark interiors.The low countries produced both wheel- and diamond-engraving of superb quality.
