Photograph entitled 'Prospero - Study of Henry Taylor' taken by Julia Margaret Cameron in May 1865. Albumen contact print from wet collodion negative. This photographic portrait of the author Henry Taylor (1800-1886) forms part of the Herschel Album, created by Cameron for her friend Sir John Herschel (1792-1871). Prospero was the Duke of Milan who was stranded on a lonely island with his daughter, Miranda, in Shakespeare's play 'The Tempest'.
