Hand-coloured photograph, 20" x 13 1/2", of a miniature in a manuscript of about 1450 showing many types of timekeeper. Original featured in 'L'Horloge de Sapience', 1450 in the Royal Library of Belgium. Depicted is an astrolabe; weight-driven mechanical clock, four types portable sundials and a spring-driven table clock (earliest known example of this mechanism)
