The Lancashire Electric Power Co. was established by Act of Parliament in 1900, and was one of the largest private electricity companies in the U.K. The first station opened was at Radcliffe in 1905 followed by Padiham in 1926, with Kearsley in 1929. The company was nationalised in 1948 into the North Western Electricity Board (NORWEB)
