Manpower Services Commission

Created under the provisions of the Employment and Training Act 1973 to develop a comprehensive manpower strategy for Britain and advise on employment matters. It was an independent body which reported directly to the Secretary of State for Employment. It was abolished in September 1988 and replaced by the new Training Agency.
