Bendix Home Appliances Ltd

Founded in Indiana, USA. In 1936, The Bendix Corporation of South Bend licensed its name to Bendix Home Appliances for a 25 percent stake in the company. A British subsidiary was formed in 1944.

Bendix Home Appliances marketed the world's first fully automatic washing machine, which was manufactured by Fisher and Ludlow. The company became Public in 1948 and later reverted to a private company in 1951, under the ownership of Fisher and Ludlow.

Fisher and Ludlow was taken over by the British Motor Corporation in 1953.
