1844 - started apprenticeship with Ditchburn and Mare, shipbuilders. 1867 - built the ironclad, Basileus Georgios for the Greek Navy. 1868 - patent granted for the invention of 'improvements in the construction of batteries form ships of war.' 1901 - patented 'Applicance for transportation of coal or other supplies, chiefly designed for ships at sea' in the US. 1903 - patented 'elevating or hoisting apparatus' in the US.
