World's largest passenger ship designed by naval architect Leonard Peskett. Built by John Brown and Company Ltd of Clydebank for Cunard Steamship & Co.

1906-06-07 - launched by Lady Inverclyde. 1907-09-07 - left Liverpool on its maiden voyage to New York via Queenstown (Cóbh, Irland). 1907-10-05 - obtained the 'Blue Riband' with its second outward voyage from Queenstown to Sandy Hook. 1908 - outer propellers replaced with improved versions. 1914 - not transformed into an armed merchant cruiser but Admiralty paid for the ship to remain at Liverpool at their disposal. The Lusitania began a monthly service on the route Liverpool-New York. 1915-05-07 - torpedoed by a German U-boat U-20 and sunk 15 miles off the Old Head of Kinsale (Ireland).
