1805 - John Samuel White founded J. S. White. 1891 - name changed to J. Samuel White and Co. 1898 - Company incorporated. 1912 - secured order for six Chilean destroyers. 1913 - opened J. Samuel White and Company Aircraft Department with Howard T White as General Manager. 1919 - following the death of J.S. White, his sons sold their shares, marking the end of direct White family involvement in the company. 1922 - established the Island Transport Company for transport between Cowes and Southampton. 1924 - built the modern paddle steamer, Crested Eagle for the General Steam Navigation Company. 1972 - Company taken over by Elliot Corporation of the USA for the production of turbo-compressors.
