1780s - publicly committed himself to the goal of mechanizing weaving. 1804 - patented a dressing-frame which starched the warp before it was put into the loom when movement was added to this invention, it became known as the 'dandyloom'. 1807 - declared bankrupt. 1812 - The Luddites broke into Radcliffe's mill and residence and destroyed both his machinery and furniture which led to the death of his wife.
