1919 - founded by F D Edwards, physicist, as Edwards Equipment and Services business based in south London supplying vacuum equipment;

1939 - began manufacturing vacuum equipment;

1953 - moved to Crawley, Sussex;

1954 - Edwards High Vacuum Limited formed;

1955 - acquired freeze drying manufacturer Alto Vuoto SpA, Italy

1958 - acquired dry pump manufacturer J H Holmes and Son Limited, Shoreham, Sussex, England

1968 - taken over by BOC (British Oxygen Company);

1997 - BOC Edwards formed as vacuum business integrated with BOC electronic gases business;

2006 - BOC Group acquired by Linde AG and together form The Linde Group; BOC Edwards sells the Hibon pressure business to Ingersoll Rand.

2007 - Edwards acquired by CCMP
