This reel documents 4 different rail journeys in Norway, Yugoslavia, Switzerland, and Holland. With lineside and passenger views, the footage shows a variety of steam and diesel-electric locomotives, as well as other forms of transport, including tram in Norway. These journeys are interspersed with footage of mountainous European landscapes, lakes and forests. The film also captures people’s behaviours: pedestrians in cities passed through, passengers with luggage and train staff on platforms, a brass band performance at a station, as well as amateur railway enthusiasts filming passing locomotives from the lineside.
