Oval goa stone, used as a remedy for many diseases, bears traces of gold foil on outside, in oval gold case, with elaborate openwork decoration, on a gold tripod. Un-provenanced, but probably of non-Western origin. A Goa stone is an amalgam of fever remedies combined in a small hard ball. In the 17th century they were popular as a treatment for many diseases.
